Don't Let the Media Sour You on The Economy, or Life by Walt Barrett

Don't Let the Media Steal Your Dreams

One thing I learned a long time ago is that all media thrives on misery. Without doom and gloom and misery the media would be out of a job. For every story with a happy ending there are hundreds of very sad stories. A good news day for the media is when people are murdered, babies die, airplanes crash, volcano's erupt, buildings blow up, factories explode, thousands of people lose their jobs, or are killed in accidents, and lots of businesses fold, a person's life is ruined, and on, and on, and on! They literally beat on these stories for days on end. The media performs its "duty" to the nth degree, until, you get the urge to throw the TV out the window! Don't ever lose sight of the fact that they, the media, are making huge amounts of money in the process of spreading all of this negativism around the planet. Many young people that I have spoken to tell me that they have given up on the media all together because it is so negative and depressing. Don't fall into the trap! And if you agree with me, avoid buying their sponsors products. That message is loud and clear!
Well I would like to take the time to point out that the world is not coming to an end at this time. Just because certain industries have painted themselves into a corner it doesn't mean that all businesses are going to fail. Actually, some of them are thriving. Many of the businesses that are failing are because of bad management decisions, greed, failure to obey the accepted rules of good business procedure, and in some cases by giving in to excess demands of the labor unions. If you obsess on all of this you are going to get dragged down by it. Just remember that we all got through the thirties, forties, fifties, and seventies in spite of some pretty unsettling economies. Remember, that the media would be very happy to control everything including you, and your government. They would like to decide who is guilty before they are even tried in a court of law, who wins the elections, who stays in business, and who fails, and to influence your thinking in any way they can. All media has it own agenda. Most of all, they like to make money. The media has no conscience in spite of the crocodile tears. They would conduct an interview over your loved one's casket if you let them. We have all seen it. Someone should follow them around and constantly stick cameras in their faces, and invade their homes and neighbors homes. See how they like it! Notice that they rarely drag each other through the mud except for the rag sheet people. The media has its own share of mentally unbalanced control freaks and hypocrites, and they have no need to look around any further to find them.

I think I have made my point, and now I would like to suggest that we all ignore all the doom and gloom and predictions from these so called media experts, and get on with our lives. Take a more positive attitude, and look around you for the opportunities in life, and the good things that happen, not the disasters. We can't change them. Don't let the media steal your dreams! There are now, and always will be great opportunities in this world in spite of what the media says. Remember how they make their living. Media is a business, and if you ignore them, and take control of your own life, you will be a lot better off. They may never go away, but maybe some day they will learn that we all have rights like privacy etc. too, and to just stick to reporting the news and not trying to make, or effect it.

Get positive and stay positive, spend your time on better things like how to improve your own personal situation in life, quit worrying about disasters, and the sex life of movie stars etc. Quit wasting time on the media, and you will have a great and successful 2009.

Walt
